How quietness finds me

Photo by Claire Gray on Unsplash

Quietness has found me
in the lull
between hot, hot afternoons
and this spell
of a cool grey morning.

The lavender calls me,
“come and rest in our faded purple spheres.”

Quietness turns me still.
A nostalgic place
where my soul knows
I am a grey morning
with chartreuse leaves
scalloping a tired landscape…

A poem

Photo by Gary Bendig on Unsplash

the rabbits gather
one by one
along the edges of nibble and eat.

What awaits them is a treat.
A smattering of carrots
a rose petal salad
apples quartered and spaced
two feet by two feet.

They speak with a twitch
from their brown pooled…
