But I almost died. {poem}

I could have settled

and I did try

to tuck and fold,

our towels

hung side by side.

I tried to fit in

but trees don’t want ceilings

and clouds breathe seasons;

my heart doesn’t do

freeze dry.

I’m wind planted; stormy

at times and calmed by

Nature’s lullaby. I straddle

this world and somewhere

far off; where conversations

dive through soul’s pooled eyes

and wander over saucers of

ridiculous.

I tried. I really did.

But I almost died. Normal

isn’t all that it is. That’s why

I had to say goodbye.
