I Turned to Wing

It wasn’t ’til
the windows opened swiftly
and there the winds
rushed through.

Opal feathers were
a wing laced song.
I held nothing back
enthralled to be
airborne at last.

We skimmed
branch to branch
casing blushing buds.

Spring found me
not on parchment,
where birds could not sing

I splayed my hands
and turned myself
to wing.
