Melting Snow
A lyrical poem
The snow is melting
in a tundra of white thunder
with a steady drip, drip, drip
falling quickly
I hear the roof sighing
as the gutters are crying
it all feels too dreary and weary
Yet under the crunching
I sense a swell of growth growing
wondering and waiting to be seen
A silence where primroses will beam
their sunny, sensual shades
a far cry from this artic whiteness
Daffodils, tulips, and crocus
will also seem to sing
when this frosty frozen foray melts away
Until then, I’ll stay close
to the sounds of the snow thawing
and the winds whipping
While I let myself dissolve
into the artistic puddled piles of snow
dotting the paths
lining the streets
curled around parked cars
and I’ll keep
an inner light on for Spring
